DIY superstore Wickes opens at Clifton Moor in York
A York DIY superstore held a ribbon cutting ceremony after moving back into the premises it left ten years ago.
Wickes customer Guy Pulleyn cut the ribbon at the store at Clifton Moor yesterday morning (Wednesday 13th March) to begin the first day of business.
Among those at the opening was Carr Lane resident Chris Mcmullen, who correctly answered a question about the new store in a competition run by The Press, and received £150 in Wickes tokens.
Mike Reather, from Wickes, said: “The new site is actually the original store that Wickes occupied up until 2003 and it has been left empty since 2003. Moving back gives us a great opportunity to improve the old store to current market trends and offer everything the customer needs for their project.”
The store will be visited by the Lord Mayor of York, Keith Hyman, on Saturday, when he will award prizes in a local schools drawing competition.
