DIY Express opens on Saturday

DIY Express, a brand new high street DIY store owned by Screwfix, opens in Shepton Mallet this Saturday.

Celebrity gardening and interior design experts, Charlie Dimmock and Julia Kendall, will be on hand to offer their top tips to customers at the opening of Shepton Mallet's new DIY store.

The dynamic duo will be joining Shepton Mallet Town Council chairman Chris Inchley for the launch of DIY Express in the Haskins Retail Centre, at 10am on Saturday, March 24.

Customers who visit the store between 10am-1pm will be able to bring their DIY dilemmas to discuss with Charlie and Julia, and have the chance to win £250 worth of Dulux paint.

Store manager John Stinchcombe said: "With the DIY season upon us, we're really excited to be opening the first ever DIY Express in Shepton Mallet and meeting our new customers.

"We're inviting people from the local area to come along on the day and join in with the launch celebrations as it's set to be a great event. And we're thrilled that Charlie Dimmock and Julia Kendall will be attending to officially launch the store."

Visitors will also be able to meet the Dulux Dog. And the first 100 customers will receive a free 23-piece DIY tool kit.

DIY Express, which is owned by Screwfix, is in the Haskins complex opposite the Townsend Retail Park.

It will be open from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

Presenter, interior designer and writer Julia Kendall has filmed four series of BBC One's DIY SOS, including a Children in Need special, and two series of DIY SOS The Big Build where she solely designed the properties and oversaw the entire build and fit-out programme. She has also been the interior designer on ITV 1's 60 Minute Makeover and worked as the DIY and design expert on prime time breakfast show Daybreak.

Charlie Dimmock is one of Britain's best known and best loved gardeners, specialising in water features. Having first come to the nation's attention on BBC1's Ground Force filmed both here and in the US, Charlie has gone on to present amongst other things, Cheer for Charlie, Charlie and the Duchess, Garden Invaders and the Chelsea Flower Show for the BBC.
