Dawson considers £2bn flotation of The Range

The Range store

According to Sky News, Owner of The Range Chris Dawson has opened talks with investment banks with regard to the stock market flotation of the business he started in Plymouth almost 30 years ago.

Dawson, who is one of the UK's richest self made men is considering a flotation in the second half of 2018, which would value the company at almost £2bn. It is understood that a number of banks are expected to be appointed to commence work on the listing before the spring.

The Range now operating from 148 stores in the UK and Ireland, selling a huge variety of home and garden products is expected to make a profit of around £100m in its current financial year, which ends on 31st January 2018.

The company is expected to target a valuation multiple similar to competitor B&M retail, another listed retailer, which would value the growing business at around £1.7bn.
