Crown Paints Supports Community Groups With Donations
- Charities transformed with over 1,000 litres of paint donated by decorating giants
Crown Paints has contributed more than 1,000 litres of paint to community groups across the country through its charitable partnership with Wickes.
The donations have been facilitated through the Wickes Community Programme. The programme launched in 2022 with the aim of supporting local charities and community organisations to update their spaces.
Crown became the official paint partner for the programme in December 2023 and since then a total of 1,049 litres of repurposed paint that may otherwise be disposed of has been given a new lease of life through donations to local charities.
The first project undertaken by the decorating giants was the transformation of the New Hope Homeless Shelter in Watford last year. The partnership has also provided paint to hospitals, schools, and churches among many more.
This includes Attenborough Cricket Club in Long Eaton which was supplied with 90 litres of paint earlier this year. Volunteers from the Nottingham Crown Decorating Centre fully repainted the space which now enhances the community sports experience for hundreds of residents in the area.
Katie McLean, Marketing Director UK & Ireland at Crown Paints said: “Supplying a milestone 1,000 litres of paint to community groups through this partnership already is a fantastic achievement and sets a healthy benchmark for the rest of the year.
“Fostering positive change for people and the planet drives everything we do at Crown, and our partnership with the Wickes Community Programme is a huge part of that mission.”
Naomi Woodstock, Wickes PR and Community Programme Manager said: “The feedback we’ve had from the charities we’ve supported through the partnership so far is a testament to our collective efforts to improving people’s lives through redecoration. We’ve hit the ground running this year, and we're looking forward to supporting many more projects to come.”
The partnership falls under the community pillar of Crown’s ambitious environmental and social strategy, Project Possible, which supports communities through the positive power of paint. By providing repurposed and recycled product to local charities through the partnership, Crown aims to transform and maintain spaces for good causes, as well as reducing waste.
More broadly, Project Possible focuses on five key areas around sustainability, charity, community, education and people & culture, with a series of sustainability and people focused programmes across Crown’s operations, as well as even greater support for the wider industry and local communities.
