Coastal Hues To Dominate Outdoor Living For 2025

Experts at Trex – the world’s number one composite decking brand – say coastal-inspired honey colours are likely to dominate outdoor living décor in 2025.*

Natural light honey hues top the list of the most popular decking samples ordered from the range during 2024.

Inspired by the mangroves and sandy coasts of Florida, Trex’s Biscayne takes the top spot for most sales.

Part of Trex’s Transcend® Lineage® range, which launched in the UK market at the start of 2024, Biscayne has remained popular throughout the year, indicating that the shade is likely to be a favourite with householders planning deck builds in 2025.

Trex’s second most-requested shade of 2024 is a contemporary neutral from the firm’s Enhance range, with the sandy undertones and rustic slate grey streaks of Rocky Harbor [main image] coming together for a natural, weathered timber feel.

In third place was a versatile, easy-to-match medium grey colour called Calm Water, that is also part of the Enhance range.

Lee Heitzman, Trex’s UK and Ireland market manager, said: “Biscayne is clearly a hit with UK homeowners, with its colouring and natural grain pattern combining to give the peaceful, timeless look that makes coastal-inspired décor so popular. 

“We’re seeing wider market trends of internet searches for ‘grey decking’ starting to decline, whilst we’re seeing an increase in searches for ‘brown decking’.

“Rocky Harbour also evokes the relaxed, beachy feel of coastal living, while Calm Water offers a more contemporary style. Both colours are established favourites, having also featured among the top three most-requested samples last year. 

“The superior durability and low maintenance needs of Trex composite decking in comparison to traditional wooden decking is encouraging more UK homeowners to plan outdoor living spaces that can be used for dining, entertaining and wellbeing activities. 

“Winter is the perfect time to plan a dream deck to enjoy in 2025, so we’re expecting to continue to see a steady stream of requests for samples over the coming months.”
