Clara Amfo Unveiled As Dulux Colour Of The Year 2021 Ambassador

Whether you’re an experienced DIYer or a complete painting novice, the easiest way to banish the blues is with a colourful home makeover, says Clara Amfo.

As the broadcaster is unveiled as the ambassador for the Dulux Colour of the Year 2021, Brave Ground, Clara reveals that she has been making over her London home.

Clara says: “No one is really going anywhere at the moment, so we might as well make the spaces we are in as nurturing as possible.

“Colour is linked to our emotions and I’m definitely drawn to bright colours - purple, pink, yellow and green. Brave Ground offsets these perfectly.

“I love the colour of Brave Ground and what it symbolises. It’s Mother Earth, our roots. It’s perfect for this year as it makes us feel more connected to where we live.

“Brave Ground also makes the other colours in my room ‘pop’ even more.”

When it comes to decorating our homes, neutral colours like Brave Ground can either stand strong on their own or help other colours to shine. 

With the help of Dulux Creative Director, Marianne Shillingford, Clara has been busy with Brave Ground in her home. Those looking for inspiration can follow her decorating journey and see the results on Clara’s Instagram and Dulux channels.

Clara says: “Decorating makes me feel like I’m in a brand new house.

“I’m confident with colour when it comes to my clothes but when it comes to adding colour to my home, I like to have a more considered approach because those walls aren’t moving!

In my daily life I’m surrounded by noise, by music, so I love those moments of peace, of being able to chill out. And Brave Ground definitely helps me to do that.”

Marianne says: “Whatever lockdown is making us face in our lives, we need the courage to move forward, to make big decisions.

“That is why it’s vital to feel that grounding connection to the earth and that starts with the roof over our heads. Our homes are our sanctuaries and Brave Ground is perfect for the moment, allowing each of us to restore, repair, refresh and feel capable of achieving more.”
