ByBox to expand collection locker network
Delivery company ByBox is investing £2 million in expanding its collection locker network.
The company plans to set up additional banks of electronic lockers at selected railway stations within the M25 and around London following a deal with Network Rail.
The move follows a successful trial of the myByBox drop boxes at Victoria station where online shoppers can elect to have parcels from any retailer delivered to a locker instead of their home or workplace.
The company, which delivers 365 days a year, says it has achieved a 99.63% delivery rate across the whole year. Founded in 2008, it currently delivers 20 million parcels a year to its network of 18,000 drop boxes in 1,350 locations across the UK.
Stuart Miller, chief executive and co-founder of ByBox, said: “The traditional delivery model that concentrates deliveries Monday to Friday, with premium charges for next day delivery, is outdated and needs to change."
Miller added: “We want to provide a service for people who love internet shopping but hate waiting in for parcels. It’s as simple as that.”
