Bunnings take axe to next level of Homebase management

Bunnings Axe

News has surfaced this evening that the Bunnings Team has taken the axe to the remaining senior Homebase personnel in another startling revelation of their aggressive and uncompromising approach to transforming the Homebase business.

It is our understanding that all of the Homebase Trading Directors will leave the business between now and the end of August 2016.

Apparently there is no voluntary redundancy being offered; everyone has been mapped to a specific role within the business and is currently going through an assessment, designed to score every Homebase team member out of a total of 130 points, with 25 points being deducted if the person doesn’t want to be part of the new Bunnings team.

We understand that Bunnings is aiming to implement an entirely flat structure, with twenty two buyers plus assistants, reporting into nine category managers, who then report into the General Manager responsible for merchandising Craig Castelino.

Read below our own analysis of Bunnings strategy and how successful we think they are likely to be in the UK.
