British Garden Centres Acquires Former Dobbies Gosforth Site
British Garden Centres has announced their third acquisition in a week, the former Dobbies Gosforth site at Gosforth Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 5EP.
This strategic move marks a significant milestone for the business, further solidifying its position as the UK’s largest family-run garden centre group in the UK, taking the portfolio to 68 stores.
The existing team will be retained. There will also be a recruitment drive, creating new employment opportunities within the local area.
The centre is planned to re-open mid to late February. The Gosforth Garden Centre’s Facebook and Instagram pages will continue to provide updates on the site’s progression.
Charles Stubbs, Founder and Director of British Garden Centres said: “We are delighted to welcome the Gosforth Garden Centre into our family, along with the team members and customers. It’s another very exciting opportunity as we have clear ambitions to grow the centre. We look forward to getting ready for the opening.”
British Garden Centres (BGC) is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group with 68 centres around the country. The group is owned and led by The Stubbs family, who also own and operate Woodthorpe Leisure Park in Lincolnshire.
