B&Q to boost employee motivation with eco initiative
DIY retailer B&Q is set to launch a new eco-friendly reward and recognition programme that aims to boost employee motivation.
The initiative will help the company's 30,000 members of staff reduce both their energy bills and carbon footprints.
Each month, workers will be entitled to discounts on environmentally-friendly products, which could cut their energy bills by as much as £140.
B&Q has also launched an energy saving forum which aims to increase engagement among staff as well as tackling environmental issues.
According to B&Q, in total the initiative could save staff £4.2 million and slash their carbon emissions by 19 million kilograms.
The firm will also offer cash prizes to employees who come up with the best energy saving ideas during the employee motivation programme.
Meanwhile, B&Q is attempting to boost staff engagement by offering the 1,300 workers that sell the company's eco-products the chance to study for a new City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Retail Skills.
Recently, employee motivation strategies were highlighted as the reason for continued growth at international brewer Molson Coors.
