B&Q store management restructure saw c.180 redundancies last month
It is understood that around 180 B&Q store staff were made redundant in July, following a store management restructure.
Stock manager and service manager roles across the B&Q store network were made redundant and a new role – Deputy Manager – was created.
A Mumsnet forum user posted about the upcoming changes on June 24th, stating: “Company restructure means Stock Manager and Service Manager positions in all stores are being made redundant. Some existing managers will be offered a new Deputy Manager role. Consultation process has begun with redundancies mid July.”
In a statement made to Retail Week, B&Q said the retailer has created the new structure to “meet a number of business needs”. These include “having the best management structure in place to deliver the best service for our customers, and reducing the gap between management and the customer”.
