B&Q store looks set to open in the New Year

DIY giant B&Q has confirmed they will open a Louth store in the New Year after months of uncertainty.

The site in Belvoir Way on the Fairfield Industrial Estate will open when the store has undergone its renovations, possibly in January.

A B&Q spokesperson told the Leader: “We’re delighted to confirm that all negotiations for a new B&Q in Louth have been successfully completed and we are looking forward to opening the doors to new staff and customers in the near future - an official opening date will be announced as soon as possible.”

Plans have gone through to East Lindsey District Council for the store to put up their signature signage and this decision will be decided in the coming weeks.

B&Q confirmed the take over of the land on the industrial estate which formerly homed DIY store Focus following negotiations with the land owner.

As previously reported, B&Q’s parent company Kingfisher confirmed 29 stores including Louth would open across the country in monthly phases. Out of these 29 stores, Louth is one of two stores yet to open.

Plans were seemingly moving forward in October when the Leader was informed B&Qwould open later that month as work began on the store and staff commenced their training. Work then halted as discussions with the landowner were not complete. Then began several months of uncertainty as negotiations continued.

Workmen are now on site painting the store the signature orange colour. The opening of the store has saved 18 jobs as staff from the former Focus store have been re-hired.
