B&Q Appoints New Consumer PR Agency
PR Week has reported that following a competitive pitch, B&Q has parted ways with PR firm Good Relations, after seven years.
The consumer PR account has been awarded to Freuds who will, "lead on earned strategy, creative consumer engagement campaigns, integrated social and press office activations" as well as "protection of brand reputation", according to PR Week.
Jane Sell, head of corporate comms, PR and social marketing at B&Q, said: “Freuds impressed us with its strategic ability [and] experience in building brands with purpose. We believe that its creative ambition, demonstrated in the pitch process, will help take B&Q forward as a culturally relevant brand customer’s keep coming back to. We look forward to working with Freuds, alongside our creative agency Uncommon Studios, to maintain and grow our 2020 momentum.”
Jo Vyvyan-Robinson, Freuds partner and head of consumer brands, said: “B&Q is the best-known DIY brand in the UK and has captured the imagination of the nation during lockdown with its 'Build a life' campaign. B&Q was founded on the belief that anyone has the ability to do home and garden improvements themselves – it will be our job to communicate this brand belief, to build consumer confidence and trust in B&Q, and to drive preference in B&Q among a growing and fragmented home improvement sector.
"From the first conversations I had with the B&Q team at the end of last year and in all the subsequent meetings, I have been inspired by the energy and ambition to build a brand with purpose. The work we do at Freuds for all our consumer brand clients is centred around a desire to build responsible brands that people love and, critically, choose over their competitors.”
