B&M to replace B&Q in Hartlepool
It has been announced in recent days that B&M Retail will shortly replace Hartlepool’s soon-to-close B&Q store.
In 2015, Kingfisher Group announced that the store, located at the Tees Bay retail park, would close as part of a major restructuring, leading to the closure of 60 of B&Q's UK branches by the end of 2017.

Last October, B&Q confirmed that the Hartlepool branch was due to close in their 2016-17 financial year, but no actual date had been confirmed. However, last May they announced that the store was due to shut its doors for the last time in January 2017.
Discount home and garden retailer B&M has now confirmed that it will move into the site and open in the Spring. It is understood that one of the two existing B&M stores in the area, the one llocated at Hartlepool Marina will close and store staff will move to the new store, although no dates have been provided.
A B&M spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we are taking over the B&Q site in Hartlepool and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store. We’re all really excited to get the development underway and welcome our new customers through the door in Spring 2017.”
B&M have taken over a number of the closed B&Q stores and more information is available here - B&M understood to have bought 12 B&Q stores.
