Canvey Island Retail Park became the latest location for one of B&M's stores, with the long-awaited opening in Essex taking place this morning.

The new store has seen a major internal and external development programme undertaken to make sure it's ready for customers.

It comes as a huge boost to the local economy, with 60 people from the local area hired. Colleagues were given the choice of which charity they'd like to act as VIPs to officially open the new store.

The Danny Green Fund took centre stage to cut the ribbon in front of excited customers.

The charity was set up after Danny Green was left with Posterior Fossa Syndrome (PFS) following surgery to remove a brain tumour. The team want to help other children suffering from PSA through providing therapy sessions and vital equipment, as well as research into the disease.

As a thank you for all of the hard work they do in the community, and for helping to open the new B&M store, the charity have been handed £250 worth of vouchers.

A wide range of branded products are available to purchase in-store, including toys, food & drink, homeware, pet products, health & beauty and seasonal.

The store manager, Jodie Chalker, said: “The team from The Danny Green Fund really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for local children in the community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

She also commented: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day."
