Betta Living achieves record profits
New showrooms and opening more than a dozen concessions in Next stores contributed to furniture chain Betta Living achieving record profits last year.
The Oldham headquartered vertical, which makes and sells fitted kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom furniture, grew sales 18 per cent to £35m in the year to end November.
Profits before tax more than doubled to £1.5m, with the company investing £3.4m on two new stores, five refits and fitting out 14 concessions as part of its partnership with national fashion-to-furnishings retailer Next.
It also spent £1.3m on a new distribution centre. Betta Living has, post year-end, extended its partnership network to the garden centre group Dobbies. It launched a concession at Dobbies Chesterfield in April and has since opened others at Cirencester, Southport and Milton Keynes.
It has also opened another Next concession since December to bring the running total to 15. Betta Living said its partnerships would result in a big leap in output in FY 2014, with a further £2m budgeted for capital projects this year including 5 new A1 retail showrooms of its own. It also said it was planning to develop its bedroom furniture offer.
The retailer currently trades from more than 50 UK sites including its Betta Living showrooms, displays and concessions in Next and Dobbies.
