Bad press for Homebase as reckless lorry driver caught on camera
Homebase has been contacted by The Sun newspaper for a comment after the publication shared a video from YouTube channel IdiotUKDriversExposed, which featured a Homebase lorry overtaking a car transporter on the wrong side of the road, around 100 yards from a roundabout, as a car approached from the other direction.
Driver Lee Randall is understood to have filmed the dashcam footage on the A507 in Bedfordshire, and shared it with the channel.
Watch the video footage here.
The driver's behaviour has drawn criticism from social media users.
The Daily Mail website, which also featured the story, features a comment from a reader named Luckystars, who claimed to be the driver of the car that was approaching the lorry:
"I was the driver of the oncoming car & to have a hgv coming towards u on the wrong side of the road is a hair raising moment regardless of weather conditions etc. I slowed down & moved over because the road isn't actually that wide & I didn't fancy ending up being squashed on the front of the lorry or in the fields next to the road. It's 'idiot' drivers like this which cause accidents yet walk away while others are not so lucky."
