Argos opens Christmas pop up shops in London train stations

Argos has opened pop up gift shops in London train stations Paddington and Waterloo this week.

The temporary stores, which aim to appeal to time-poor London commuters, offer customers the opportunity to order goods for collection the same day.

The pop up shops, which Argos said are styled as giant gift boxes, offer 75 Christmas gifts. Customers scan a unique QR code relating to a particular product. Their item is then checked and reserved using Argos’ mobile site, meaning they can collect it later that day or at another convenient time from an Argos store of their choice.

Paddington will be open today (Monday), Tuesday and Friday this week. Waterloo opens on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Gift Boxes will sell products including iTunes vouchers, Sony laptops and Peppa Pig pyjamas.

Argos head of brand development Siobhan Fitzpatrick said: “We understand the pressures shoppers are under in terms of preparing for Christmas, so we wanted to make shopping really easy for them in an active and engaging way.

“Our unique pop-up gift shop allows shoppers to be certain they can get what they want, at a time to suit them.”

The Gift Box was created by advertising agency CHI & Partners and media agency Mindshare.
