Argos creates Head of Commercial Transformation role

Adam Archer has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Commercial Transformation to lead the IS Transformation programme within Trading, reporting to Commercial Director David Robinson. The role is key to bringing to life the strategic vision for Argos to be a digital retail leader, as announced to The City on 24 October 2012.

Adam has 20 years of commercial retail experience built in the UK and Far East and joins from Marks & Spencer where he led the Strategic Planning team and then ran their China business. Prior to that he held several senior buying and merchandising roles in a number of leading retailers, including Arcadia, Oasis, Miss Selfridge and Sears. He holds an MBA from Edinburgh University.

David Robinson, Commercial Director, Argos said: “This role is critical to our transformation plans for our buying teams and we are delighted to welcome Adam to the business. Our product based strategies are critical to our growth plans, which means offering customers more choice, available faster, and extending our reach by offering a more universally appealing offer, including extended ranges of branded and own brand product.

“Adam’s experience within this area will be critical as we invest in our IS infrastructure across the business to join channels and improve the digital shopping experience for our customers.”

On his appointment, Adam Archer added: “This is a great time to join Argos as part of the leadership team on this exciting journey of digital transformation. My role is to deliver systems that enable the teams to plan and trade dynamically and efficiently, and help put Argos into a winning position”.
