Argos appoints former Tesco director to newly created fulfilment role
Andy Brown has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Customer Fulfilment for Stores, to lead the development of local fulfilment options, and make more choice available faster for customers. This follows the announcement to The City on 24 October 2012to transform Argos into a digital retail leader.
Andy joins with significant experience in retail. Most recently he was Business Programme Director for Tesco.com, where he led the transformation programme for their online business. Prior to that he held a number of operational roles and spent five years as a strategy consultant at OC&C.
"Argos has over 700 stores right in the heart of local communities. We have a unique opportunity to enhance availability of products within customers' local stores, and allow a greater range to be ordered into store for collection same day or next day" says Andy.
He continues: "This is a great time to join Argos. I have been incredibly impressed by the stores teams in my first few weeks. They are excited by the transformation plan and keen to play their part in creating an even better experience for our customers."
Steve Carson, Retail Operations Director, Argos said: "Andy's experience will be invaluable for this newly created senior role. Few companies in the UK can match Argos' ability to move as many non-food products into local markets on a national scale, as fast and as efficiently. The ability to enable stores to offer a wider range for same day availability is a key part of our five year transformation plan. We welcome him to the business. "
