AO CEO to step down

John Roberts, CEO and founder of electrical retailer AO, has confirmed he is to step down and take on an executive director position on the AO's board.

He will be succeeded by COO Steve Caunce, who Roberts states has been 'running the business on a day-to-day basis for some time'.

In January of this year, AO reported 'continued growth and strategic progress' in its third quarter trading update for the three months to 31 December 2016.  

In a statement, Geoff Cooper, AO World chairman, said: "John’s move reflects the successful management transition as we build on John’s entrepreneurial roots in the AO business that he founded,” 

"John’s new role will enable him to continue to play to his strengths as an innovator and a visionary leader.

“Steve and John remain very much a partnership and together they will ensure that AO continues to deliver for customers, colleagues, suppliers and our investors."
