Annual sales surpass £1bn at Howdens

Trade cabinets and kitchens business Howdens says annual sales have passed £1bn for the first time in its near 20-year history.

The manufacturer and distributor — whose depots are used by small builders and fitters across the UK — announced the landmark in a missive to the city this morning, adding that its financial year still had three weeks to run.

CEO Matthew Ingle said: “This is a very special day for Howdens. Reaching £1bn of sales within 20 years of opening our first depots is testimony to the drive and enthusiasm of all the people who work at Howdens.

He added that Howdens operated a unique business model and that the landmark top line had not been achieved by accident.

“Our strong relationships with our suppliers and the total commitment of our staff — both in Supply and the Depots — ensures that the more than 300,000 building trade professionals who rely on the business receive the best possible service, no call back quality and the best local price day in and day out,” he said.
