Amazon UK MD departs after five years
Amazon UK's managing director Chris North has left the business to join Shutterfly, a US online retailer that describes itself as 'a leading manufacturer and digital retailer of high-quality personalized products and services offered through a family of lifestyle brands'.
North held the role of MD for five years and worked for Amazon UK for ten. Upon joining Shutterfly as President and Chief Executive he will also become a member of the board.
It has been reported that his successor is likely to be Doug Gurr, Amazon's current China chief but Amazon has yet to comment.
Amazon has been reported as saying: “We’d like to thank Christopher for his many contributions and wish him the best with his new venture”
North said: "With Shutterfly’s dedication to customers, incredible team and track record of innovation, I believe the company is strongly positioned to grow and increase profitability in order to drive shareholder value."
