Amazon Prepares For Launch In Sweden
Amazon is preparing to launch in Sweden, which would be its first entry into the Nordic markets.
Customers in Sweden can already shop with Amazon through its other European sites - particularly Amazon.de - but incur additional shipping costs.
Logistics group Kuehne and Nagel is understood to be building a warehouse facility around 100 km from Stockhom, in Eskilstunam, but has not confirmed who the site is for.
Amazon's vice president for EU expansion, Alex Ootes, told Reuters: “We are optimistic that, by focusing on the things we believe customers will place the greatest emphasis on – low prices, a wide range, and fast deliveries – we will eventually be able to win the trust of Swedish customers.”
“The next step is to introduce a complete retail offering in Sweden and that is what we plan to do now.”
Amazon has yet to reveal a date for the launch of its Swedish website.
