Amazon looks at London for Amazon Go store
The Sunday Times has reported that Amazon is looking for a property in central London, in which it will base its checkout free store format: Amazon Go.
Amazon's first Amazon Go store opened in Seattle in December 2016, allowing Amazon employees the opportunity to test-drive the new store format.
Amazon describes the new concept as : "... a new kind of store with no checkout required. We created the world’s most advanced shopping technology so you never have to wait in line. With our Just Walk Out Shopping experience, simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take the products you want, and go!"
Around twelve London sites are understood to be under consideration, and the store is expected to open within the next few months.
In December 2016, it was revealed that Amazon had submitted trademark applications to protect the Amazon Go brand in the UK and Europe.
