Amazon expands one-hour delivery to Manchester and surrounding areas
Amazon today announced that Prime Now has expanded to Manchester and many surrounding postcodes, including Wigan, Warrington, Stockport and Oldham. The ultra-fast delivery service, which launched for Prime members in London, Birmingham and Newcastle earlier this year, offers one-hour delivery on thousands of items, including essentials for festive entertaining such as baking ingredients, chocolate, snacks and drinks, as well as popular Christmas gift items like perfume, games and Lego —all via a simple and easy-to-use mobile app. Prime Now customers can choose delivery within one hour for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots between 8am and midnight, seven days a week.
“We’re thrilled to expand our one-hour delivery service to Manchester, our latest Prime Now city,” said Christopher North, Managing Director at Amazon.co.uk. “Prime Now has proved immensely popular in the cities that already have the service and we think that customers in Manchester and the surrounding areas will love it. We expect to see many last minute Christmas gifts ordered through Prime Now between now and the late hours of Christmas Eve.”
Customers in Manchester and surrounding areas have access to more than 15,000 products including a range of chilled and frozen products such as Chicago Town pizzas, Ben & Jerry's ice-cream and fresh juices —all available for delivery in under 60 minutes. One of the fastest Amazon Prime Now deliveries in the UK to date was Call of Duty: Black Ops III (PS4) which was ordered at 10:06am, shipped from Amazon’s Erdington delivery station in Birmingham and delivered at 10:21am to a postcode in Castle Vale.
Christmas must-have items such as Christmas puddings, mince pies and sparkling wine are also available, alongside chilled and frozen Christmas dinner essentials such as Brussel sprouts, roast potatoes and blue cheese. A selection of Christmas jumpers can also be ordered and received in under 60 minutes.
Prime Now is made available through Amazon Logistics which empowers independent local, regional and national delivery companies across the UK to deliver Amazon parcels to customers seven days a week. Deliveries will be made from the Amazon Logistics’ delivery station in Wardley.
All Prime members can immediately download the Prime Now app, available on iOS and Android devices, to find eligible delivery postcodes and request notification when the service is available in their area. Customers can also visit www.amazon.co.uk/primenow to discover eligible delivery postcodes.
