Amazon appoints new UK country manager
Amazon has confirmed Doug Gurr’s appointment as UK country manager, following the announcement that Christopher North was leaving the role to become CEO of Shutterfly, in March.
Doug currently holds the role of Amazon country manager in China and previously worked for Amazon in the UK as VP of the hardlines division, which included lawn and garden equipment, sports and toys.
Prior to joining Amazon, Doug was on the executive board of ASDA, where he set up ASDA Direct and held responsibilities across logistics, multichannel and strategy.
His appointment comes just weeks after Amazon announced a deal with Morrisons to sell fresh, chilled and frozen foods, delivering within an hour, in certain geographical areas.
Talking about his new role, Doug said: “I’m delighted to be returning to Amazon in the UK to lead our continued investment in Britain and innovation on behalf of customers, small businesses, authors and other content creators.”
