All jobs axed at Focus DIY headquarters in Crewe

ALL workers at Focus DIY headquarters in Crewe will lose their jobs after the firm announced it was shutting up shop.

Last week the administrators Ernst and Young said they were pulling the plug on Focus’ remaining 120 stores, but left hundreds of workers at the headquarters in limbo by refusing to comment on the future of their jobs.

Already 109 workers have lost their jobs at the Westmere Drive offices.

For the time being, 140 people will stay on to support the business through the administration process, but eventually those posts too will go.

Only last month the administrators were blasted by Focus insiders who claimed more than 100 staff were unfairly dismissed at the headquarters.

They were considering legal action after they said 109 workers were given an hour to clear their desks.

The DIY chain collapsed into administration three weeks ago with debts of more than £230m.

Despite managing to save 900 jobs by selling more than 50 stores to rivals including B&Q and Wickes, the remaining stores, including the Nantwich one, began their closing down sales this weekend.
