Aldi to Move into Former Manchester B&Q Unit
Discount retailer Aldi is to open on the site of a former B&Q unit in Manchester.
The Atlantic Street Retail Park is situated in the Broadheath area of Altrincham opposite the Crown Estates' Altrincham Retail Park and covers 80,000 sq ft of space.
The B&Q store on the retail park closed in September 2016, despite having seven years left on its lease.
The Aldi store will take up 18,600 sq ft of the B&Q unit. Two sections of the store have been converted into a bowling alley and a branch of United Carpets, which opened a flagship store on the retail park in October 2018.
The former garden centre on the site will be demolished and will help create parking for 115 cars.
Lee Shaw, from Avison Young which worked on the scheme, said: “The new stores form part of Aldi’s wider expansion plans and demonstrates Aldi’s commitment to enhancing the quality of their offer to customers."
